Some variations of color should be expected, but all of our candles are guaranteed to be pure beeswax.  Votive candles liquefy as they burn, so they should be placed in a glass holder.  The candle should fit snug in the holder to burn properly and not have leftover wax.  Keep the wick trimmed to 1/4" and dip the wick in the wax pool to extinguish.
