Some variations of color should be expected, but all of our candles are guaranteed to be pure beeswax.  The first burn of a pillar candle should go until the wax pool reaches evenly about an 1/8" from the edge of the candle.  This will help you get the most burn out of your candle.  Pillar candles will also need an occasional squeeze as the wax pool gets deeper in the candle.  After extinguishing the candle, while the wax at the top is slightly soft, gently squeeze the top so that the edge leans slightly inward.  As with other beeswax candles keep the wick trimmed to 1/4" and dip the wick in the wax pool to extinguish.
